How to Play Minesweeper

The game provides you with a board filled with hidden tiles. Each tile may contain either a number or a mine. Your main objective is to click and reveal the numbered tiles while avoiding the mines.

If you click on a tile that contains a mine, the game ends immediately. To win the game, you must successfully reveal all the safe tiles on the board.

Numbers Are Your Clues

The numbers on the board serve as important clues.

Each number indicates how many mines are located in the surrounding tiles (up to eight neighboring tiles). By analyzing these numbers, you can determine which tiles are likely to contain mines and which ones are safe to open.

For example, if you see a 2 with six unopened tiles around it, there are two mines hidden among those six tiles. In situations like this, it may be better to move to another area of the board first and gather more clues before making a decision.

To complete a level, you must carefully uncover all the numbered tiles while avoiding the mines.

Take Advantage of the Number 1

The number 1 is often the most helpful number for players because it is much easier to identify where the mine is located.

When you find a tile with the number 1, you can usually analyze the surrounding tiles and determine the mine's position quickly. Because of this, many players prefer to focus on areas around the number 1 to safely reveal nearby tiles.

At the same time, you should remember the positions of the mines you have already identified. Keeping track of them will help you solve other parts of the board more easily.

Strategies to Win Minesweeper on Your First Try

When starting a new game, clicking corners or edge tiles can be a smart strategy.

These tiles have fewer neighboring squares, which means:

• fewer possible mine locations
• easier logical deduction

Opening corners or edges can sometimes reveal larger safe areas, giving you more clues to solve the rest of the board.
